Okay admit it, you left your Christmas shopping to the last minute again didn’t you? Well don’t worry, we’ve got just the store for you.
Less than a week old, espace d. (pronounced es-pass-day) is a new contemporary home decor boutique filled with gorgeous gifts. The lifelong dream of foxy Frenchman Pierre Derreumaux, the shop features a carefully curated collection of modern home accessories from around the world.
Located on the quiet corner of Richards and Helmecken, the shop takes over a former fruit and vegetable market, which MGB Architecture (the design team behind Gastown’s Obakki and The Fairmont Pacific Rim’s Oru) has impressively transformed into a design destination.
We’ve got our sights set on a retro Jiedle lamp ($482) from France, colourful Fluf wool pillows ($135) from Toronto, a few glass boxes ($47 – $134) from Finland’s Iittala, a set of whiskey glasses ($59 for 2) from Denmark’s Normann-Copenhagen and a stocking full of handmade soaps ($16) from France’s Cousu de fil blanc.
Santa, are you reading this?
