Whenever we see photos of our favorite celebrities at the airport, their looks are usually very consistent with the red carpet style that they are famously known for. Celebrity airport style is usually very glam, a little over the top(which I like, and makes for an excellent fashion story, and great traveling inspiration), and sometimes very impractical for traveling. But, when it comes to celebrities, their choice of wardrobe for their travels is quite understandable considering that a significant amount of eyes(and camera flashes) will be on them at all times, so they team up with their stylists to make sure that they dress their best in their usual wardrobe choices which normally consists of long trench coats(if it's the fall and winter seasons), or a light duster coat(if it's the spring and summer seasons), a chic blouse, top or shirt skinny jeans, stilettos(be it a pump, boot, or sandal), or a stylish flat, packed on jewelry accessories be it Hoop Earrings, bracelets, or necklaces, and very chic trendy and reliable designer sunglasses for the "Cool" factor(and to protect those delicate eyes from those harsh paparazzi flashes).
Well, Zendaya, however, isn't like most celebs as she considers comfort and convenience when traveling like most regular travelers. When it comes to Zendaya's style aesthetic, there are really three different approaches she takes on how she dresses. Zendaya is a style chameleon in the truest form, and really dresses depending on how she is feeling throughout the day, whether it's the Ultra Glamourous red carpet style that she is famously known for on the red carpets, or to her toned down relaxed minimalist everyday style for when she is out and about on her own personal free time, and finally, a happy medium between the two where her looks serve a bit of glam, and relaxed at the same time, either consisting of a bat face full of makeup paired with a casual relaxed look, or accessorizing a casual relaxed look with her favorite pair of stiletto heels.
One of the most endearing qualities about Zendaya and ger style, in my honest opinion, is that she is becoming a very huge celebrity with such a large massive following of very young and very impressionable people, yet she is very comfortable and super confident in her own skin being seen not being "ON" all the time, whether it comes to her clothing being very chill, relaxed, and comfortable, to her face not having an inch of makeup on it highlighting the glow of her skin, which is a very rare thing for celebrities who often have tons of eyeballs on them all the time. Sure many would believe that it is very easy for her just because she is "Zendaya", but when you have millions of eyes on you, it could be quite intimidating. I think that is very important in this social media age where perfection(or at least an idealized style of perfection) is constantly advertised and thrown in our faces.
Which brings me to the outfit that Zendaya wore to LAX Airport recently when she was photographed by paparazzi just before catching a flight to New York City for her upcoming appearances at New York Fashion Week this month. While you will see that most celebrities tend to formally dress up to the nines when seen at the airport while being photographed, Zendaya keeps her airport looks very casual, comfortable, and relaxed for sensible traveling like most travelers. This look is also very relatable to the average person as most people already have these key essential items in this specific outfit already sitting in their closet. It's just a matter of being able to put it together effortlessly and stylishly like your favorite celebrity because relaxed fashion can also be cool, and airport also doesn't have to be overdone to be cool.
The statement piece of the entire look was the camouflage hoodie from the limited edition Puma X BAPE collaboration, the collection is long since sold out, but you can find pieces of the collection pop up at reputable resellers. The hoodie that Zendaya is pictured wearing in the photos is the Men's Camo Hoodie.
What do you do when you have a major statement piece in an outfit??? You plan the rest of your outfit around it so that it could stand out, which is exactly what Zendaya did by keeping all the rest of the clothing items, and accessories in a monochromatic black theme. By doing this styling trick, you're allowing for the statement piece the opportunity to become the focal point and stand out, and blacks and neutrals are usually a safe go-to color for making statement pieces pop.
For the rest of the outfit, he paired the camouflage Puma X BAPE hoodie with black American Apparel High Waisted Spandex Leggings. Leggings and Sweatpants are usually the best go-to pant for traveling, as they are very easy, relaxed and comfortable for those very long flights. Keeping within the Puma theme, she paired the Puma camouflage hoodie and black American Apparel leggings with the Puma "Disc Blaze" sneakers in Black and White, which also known as the "Trinomic Disc" Sneakers. And for accessories, she wore the Script Flow Dad Baseball Cap from her favorite brand Grateful Apparel.
Just a little reminder, Zendaya will be making several appearances of New York Fashion Week this month, most notably participating as one of the guest judges for the grand season finale of "Project Runway" with fellow Project Runway hosts Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, and Zac Posen. So be on the lookout for that when it comes. Zendaya will also be one of the guest presenters at the Annual Essence Style Block Party in DUMBO, Brooklyn which will be honoring her longtime wardrobe stylist LAW Roach, so that will also be exciting for her.
